A stylish 4th Millenium

An extensive visual development phase preceded the production of the film. Early on, a team of illustrators, concept artists and designers was assembled. Their mission: to imagine a "CG-friendly" futuristic world as the suitable setting for a revisited classic tale.

Under the supervision of Art Director Nicolas Lebessis, the creative crew developed a style influenced by European fantastic art and Anime to achieve a funny, improbable, retro-looking depiction of a 4th millenium universe. The complete antithesis of the usual cold, impersonal, high-tech production designs for science-fiction films.

The Paris based studio Okidoki was responsible for set designs, while the characters were created by Jean-Baptiste Andreae and Marcos Testamarck.
