Uqam

Named after the University of Quebec at Montreal which commissioned its development in 1983, this calligraphic font gives prominence to organic strokes and elegant flourishes. As a UQAM design student at the time, that undertaking was my first real world assignment under the supervision of typography professor Arthur Gladu.

This typeface incorporates contemporary features such as open bowls and single-sided serifs, while its Art Nouveau flair pays tribute to vintage lettering of late 19th century. Uqam is available in a family of three weights.
